A fish outside a RAS tank at night dies; fry outside a tank are destroyed. Each fish needs water by its stage; the tank holds 12,000 mL.

- Graft Tilapia
- 750 mL as adult
- Eel
- 1,200 mL as adult
- Electric Eel
- 1,200 mL as adult
- Sturgeon

Below 50% of the total need everything dies. Below the need each fish loses health in proportion to the missing water: with half the water, half its max health.
Fish foul the water with Organic Waste (by weight, each night). Waste of 3% of the tank volume or more hurts them; 8% kills them. Graft Tilapia is twice as sensitive; Gutter Tilapia takes no waste damage. Water Filters in the RAS clean the water on powered nights.
A powered night with hunger at 50% or more heals 10% of max health. Two nights at 0 hunger kill a fish. From its old-age day a fish has a 50% chance to die each night.
Below 75% hunger a fish takes from the dispenser up to its target, then eats carcasses in the tank, then loose pellets or feed in part up to 85%, other food whole.
A hungry fish eats the smallest live stock weighing at most 20% of its own weight. Roe and fry count as 0 g, so a hungry Tilapia eats its own roe and fry.
A fish only ages on nights its hunger is at least 37.5% of max. Industrial Fish Feed makes fish grow at 75% speed; meat in the diet speeds Tilapia up.
Omnivores eat any food; carnivores (Eel, Electric Eel, Sturgeon) only meat.
A fed adult female Tilapia (hunger 50% or more) lays roe with a 15% chance each night: 6 eggs per roe. Roe is fertilized while a fed adult male is in the tank.
Fertilized roe hatches into 6 fry, and the fry grow into 6 juveniles. Eels, Electric Eels and Sturgeon do not breed.
A blade on a fish kills and fillets it; the Auto Butcher and the Livestock Feed Dispenser do it too. A fish's meat is the calories it has eaten x its meat conversion, cut into the largest cuts first. A rest of 25 kcal or more becomes Fish Scrap.

An adult Sturgeon grows 40 g of eggs per night, up to 15% of its stage weight, while at 90% health or more. 100 g of eggs fill 1 jar.
The Surgery Toolset takes all full jars from a live Sturgeon and costs it health. Its first 10 jars are Caviar, jars 11 to 16 alternate, and later jars are Sturgeon Roe. Killing it turns every full jar into Caviar.
