Soul Displacement PuppetsThe Thread-Binding Sect can use the Soul Displacement Art to extract part of a living person's consciousness and bind it to a puppet. This allows the puppet to move freely and appear completely lifelike without the need for strings, while obeying its master's every command without question. For those subjected to Soul Displacement, once their consciousness enters the puppet, it can never return to their body. Though the body remains alive, it is reduced to a mindless shell. If the puppet is destroyed, the body dies as well. Conversely, if the body dies, the consciousness within the puppet dissipates.
Notes on Phantom ArtsAt a remote frontier beyond the pass, there was once a sect whose disciples died one after another. The dead were found with their organs ruptured and meridians destroyed, yet their eyes were closed as if in sleep, without the slightest sign of pain. A doctor well versed in Phantom Arts later examined the bodies and sighed: "This is the work of poison and illusion combined. The poison ravages the body, while the illusion deceives the mind. Therefore, though the body suffers, the spirit remains unaware, and even at the moment of death, the victim still feels only peace."
Illustrated Flora of the Foreign Lands[Pearlgrass] Warm in nature and pungent in flavor. Can be used to make poisons that cause flesh to decay, along with numbness and burning pain. [Fleeting Ghostcap] Cold in nature and sweet in flavor. May cause ringing in the ears and dizziness. Can also aid in the practice of Phantom Arts. [ Loongclaw Flower] Its petals curl backward, shriveled like claws. It grows mainly in damp, shaded places among mountain rocks. Legend claims it can bring the dead back to life and restore flesh to bare bones. More than a dozen sects once fought to possess it, but it has since vanished from the world. ...
A Survey of the Foreign SectsIn years past, many sects flourished beyond the Pass, but none was more notorious than the Thread-Binding Sect, whose leader, the "Twisted Master," was infamous throughout the Wulin for his cruelty and brutality. The Twisted Master was small in stature, almost childlike, yet his features were dark and menacing, with eyes like a hawk's. He delighted in torturing captives and was especially fond of sinister Puppetry, treating living people like lifeless objects and driving his slaves like beasts of burden. The Thread-Binding Sect was later attacked by the forces of the righteous path and ultimately submitted to the Lóng Clan.
Puppet Base Construction NotesThis tunnel was once used by thieves as a hideout and escape route. Now that it is to be converted into a puppet-manufacturing base, its secrecy and convenient layout should be used to establish both defenses and workshops. First: Relocate the entrance to beneath the well, and seal it off with puppets. Second:...
The Sevenfold Medicinal JournalThe Foreign Sects primarily use Sevenfold weed as the main catalyst for their medicines, most of which have "Sevenfold" appended to the front of their names. Sevenfold Glass: Tasteless, colorless, and as clear as water. Sevenfold Snow: A fluffy, cotton-like texture with a sour taste. Light as snow. Sevenfold Still Poison: Fine white powder, with the energies of the Phantom Arts present within. Sevenfold Silence Poison: Fine white powder, with the energies of the Phantom Arts present within, similar to Still Poison...
[Puppet Base Ledger] First Experimental BaseNinth Day of the Third Moon. Jingzhe. Cleared the Smuggler's Tunnel. Captured the leaders "Ghost Eye" Zhang Chengwu and "Nightwalker" Li Silian alive, along with thirteen of their followers. All others were eliminated, leaving the tunnel secured. However, "Digging Rat" Lu Wuxiu feigned surrender and escaped. His whereabouts remain unknown. The Herald was furious. Several dozen were punished and turned into puppets.
[Puppet Base Ledger] ExpansionSixteenth Day of the Winter Month. Xiaoxue. The experiments continue to expand. All villagers of Lu have now been turned into puppets, and the Soul Displacement Art is steadily approaching perfection. Yet the Herald remains dissatisfied. The base is becoming overcrowded, and a new site must be secured at once to expand operations.
The Silence Poison and Still Poison RecordWe have confirmed that the Viper of the Seven Venmons possesses two signature poisons. The first is Silence Poison. Highly toxic, colorless, and odorless. Anyone poisoned by it will die. The second is Still Poison. Colorless, odorless, and non-toxic. It seals the meridians and induces a state resembling death. Even without an antidote, its effects will naturally wear off after four hours.
Record of the Sevenfold AntidoteWe have confirmed that the Herald Leng Tu developed the Sevenfold Antidote, which can neutralize both Silence Poison and Still Poison. Another antidote was also found, with a nearly identical texture to the Sevenfold Antidote. However, it can only delay the onset of Silence Poison and cannot neutralize the poison itself.
Notes on a “Flower”[Only sketches of the flower remain. Every section containing writing has been torn away.]
Soul Displacement Powder FormulaMain ingredients: Biota seeds, three measures Fo-ti vine, half a measure Cinnabar... Silkworm waste... Supplemental ingredients: White peony root... Gorgon seeds... Benzoin resin... [The following entries contain numerous revisions.] ...If the two can be combined and refined properly, it may be possible to make it colorless and tasteless, while inducing Soul Displacement with a smaller dose.
The Thread-Binding Sect's Soul Displacement ArtProcedure: Use Soul Displacement Powder to separate a living being’s soul from its body. Then force the disembodied soul through a path into the Discordance. Finally, seal the soul within a puppet body. Finished Product: Mindless, demented, murderous. Note: These conditions are all caused by the temporary instability of the paths through the Discordance, which makes it difficult for the separated consciousness to remain intact. A puppet body resembling the original body may improve stability. Comment: Only fit to serve as basic combatants. To be improved by the Herald based on “Zero.”
