Prayer to the LadyI have spent half my life living by the blade. If death comes for me, I have no regrets. But my elder brother treated me as his own kin and saved me when I had nowhere left to turn... Now I offer this broken body as a sacrifice and beg the Lady of the Veil for mercy. Guide my brother out of this village of Wooden Puppets, and let him see the light of day once more! Xu Wei bows, blossom veiled, a hundred times.
Zhou Chuan's PrayerMay the Lady hear my prayer: I, your disciple Zhou Chuan of Pangzhen, humbly petition you. My mother has been ill for a long time, sleeping without waking and wasting away. I have sought out every skilled physician, yet none has helped. Having heard of the Lady's boundless virtue, I come to kneel before you and beg for your mercy. Please bless my mother with a swift recovery. Respectfully, Zhou Chuan
LI Yaomei's PrayerLady, please watch over us. The lake no longer rises and falls as it should, making it terribly difficult to cast our nets. There is constant fighting outside the village, too, so the fish are hard to sell... Merciful Lady, please grant my family a peaceful life and bless Meigu Village with fair winds and timely rain. This faithful woman bows before you. Li Yaomei of Meigu Village
Wang Yiren's PrayerMay the divine hear my prayer: I, your disciple Yiren, recently met Jingru, daughter of the Pang family. She is graceful, virtuous, and from a distinguished household, and I fell in love at first sight. I know my humble birth cannot offer her wealth or honor, so I willingly ask to marry into the Pang household, inherit its estate, and uphold the family name. I beg the Lady to bring this union to pass! Wang Yiren of Pangzhen, in reverent worship
The Unworthy Lu Sanqian's PrayerMay the great and merciful Lady hear my prayer: Lu Sanqian, sixteenth-generation descendant of the Lu family, bows before you. Our ancestors acted without virtue and wrongfully built their ancestral hall upon sacred ground blessed by gods and buddhas. Their sin was grave. Fortunately, the Lady showed mercy and gave guidance in a dream, allowing the Lu family to make amends. Now a strange sickness ravages the village and wooden puppets roam unchecked. I beg the Lady to show compassion once more, guide our path, and deliver us from suffering! Respectfully, the foolish old man,Lu Sanqian
Prayer Defaced by the Wudang SectBrother Chen, How can those of us who follow the righteous path pray for blessings from a wicked cult? Try to draw me into this faith again, and do not blame your younger brother for severing all ties with you! Lu Chongyun of Wudang
Nameless PrayerSo my enemies cannot find me, I will leave no name. Lady, I ask for neither fame nor wealth. I ask only that you cleanse me of my guilt, free me from a life of hiding and wandering, and let me live out my remaining years in peace!
Sect of the Scarlet Knife's PrayerI, Han Yidao of the Scarlet Knife Sect, have come to burn incense and make my petition. The Order destroyed my altar, stole my offerings, and even ruined the peerless Kungfu I was cultivating before it could be completed! Merciful Lady of the Veil, bring judgment upon the Order and cast disaster upon it! Should your divine power answer my prayer, I, Han, will offer dozens of blood sacrifices in return!
Prayer of Chen Hutou, Sky-Thunder SectI'm Chen Hutou of the Sky-Thunder Sect. I don't put much faith in ghosts, gods, immortals, or fiends. I believe in the bombs in my hands and the brothers at my back! Lady of the Veil, if you're really as powerful as those proclamations and aacred scrolls claim, then make the Sky-Thunder Sect invincible! Do that, and I'll build you a statue of solid gold!
