The Lady's EdictThe Merciful Lady of the Blossom Veil
Shall descend from Her lotus throne in the Pure Land
And reveal Her divine presence in this troubled mortal world
Manifesting Her sacred form for all to behold
To guide all beings lost in suffering
And deliver them from affliction and impermanence
Ritual Notice: How to Meet the LadyFirst, bind the flowers. Prepare three chi of clean red cloth, about a palm's width across, and knot it into a dense cluster of blossoms.
Next, veil the face. Fasten the flower cluster over the face, covering the eyes and ears to shut out the outside world.
Third, enter the dream. Lie flat upon the bed, calm your breath and focus your mind, silently holding your prayers and wishes in your heart.
[The Lady’s Sacred Scroll] I: Pang Sheng Meets the LadyThe Lady of the Veil is a divine spirit of great compassion, bringing relief to the suffering of the world. Her emissary, the Herald, often ties red blossoms to the faces of Buddha statues, allowing the Lady to witness the suffering of humankind.
There once was a young man named Pang Sheng, frail from birth. One night, he was struck by agonizing pain in his chest and groaned until dawn. The Lady appeared to Pang Sheng’s mother in a dream and said, “Your son’s illness runs deep. Cover his face with a silk blossom, and as he sleeps at night, have him sincerely repeat my name in silence.”
The Pang family followed her instructions. Sure enough, Pang Sheng’s lingering illness vanished. Within days, he had grown strong and healthy, and even acquired martial skill.
[The Lady’s Sacred Scroll] II: The Wooden Man’s HeartFortune and misfortune go hand in hand, and what reaches its height must one day decline. One day, Pang Sheng was matching skills with a Wulin fighter when a spear pierced straight through his chest.
A wandering practitioner happened to pass by. Remarking that the young man was fated to have a connection with the Lady, he took a piece of fine wood and carved it into human form. He placed Pang Sheng’s heart inside, then fashioned a mask in Pang Sheng’s likeness and set it upon the wooden man’s face. Moments later, the wooden man suddenly opened its eyes and rose to its feet, looking even more vigorous than Pang Sheng had in life!
Pang Sheng’s return from death was all thanks to the protection of the Lady of the Veil. Whenever such wonders occur, one should know that the Lady truly exists between heaven and earth and must be treated with reverence.
Statement of FaithThe Merciful Lady of the Veil cleanses all sin. Those who seek absolution and long life must be sincere of heart and steadfast in prayer and praise. The devout shall receive her protection and reap good fortune. Those who doubt or neglect her shall suffer calamity and be denied redemption for all eternity!
Fragment of an Illusionist's NotesToo late, too late!
The High Elder has sealed the ruins with a mirror. None may enter without a token! We linger outside, fearing we have already missed the rite to welcome the Lady...
Those versed in such matters examined the mirror and declared: Only when all the Acolytes are gathered may this seal be broken.
Yet they inhabit bodies woven of straw, slipping through the Discordance... With our meager arts, how could we ever find them...?
The High Elder's DecreeHear my command, disciples,
Once, a sacred vessel bore us across the sea of suffering and through the mists of delusion, coming to rest upon this shore. A treasure of salvation, it manifested wondrous powers beyond measure.
Now I command you to gather in the Discordance. Give all the strength of your Phantom Arts, with utmost reverence and devotion, to rebuild the Spectral Vessel!
When the vessel is complete and the Lady descends from the far shore, we shall welcome her aboard and receive her boundless grace!
Scrawled NoteAll have gone mad in their devotion to the Lady. Those who defy her, those who keep silent, all are slaughtered... No, no... Falsehood! Lies! Blasphemy!
All who harbor such thoughts must be destroyed! Destroyed... No, mustn't... don't... believe don't believe believe believe believe believ belie beli bel be b b b-
Image of the Lady's True FormStars across the heavens open into the Sea of Blight; all the endless cosmos becomes her sacred form.
She devours the firmament and swallows the universe, remaking eternity into an immortal paradise.
Star ChartThe cosmos is filled with mysteries and wonders beyond reckoning. Yet above all stands the greatest anomaly, neither star nor moon, neither cloud nor mist. Wherever it passes, the celestial order falters, the courses of the heavens drift astray, and the firmament grows dim.
Ancient sages knew only that it spread across the vault of heaven without end. None could fathom how it came to be, nor where its source lay. Thus, they marked it upon the star charts and named it the Blight.
