Overview
北苏拉威西鹿豚 (学名：Babyrousa celebensis) 是一种原生于印度尼西亚苏拉威西岛和邻近小岛的猪。 它们身上大多没有毛发，皮肤呈灰色。 北苏拉威西鹿豚头体长 85 至110 厘米，尾长 29 至 32 厘米，肩高 58 至 66 厘米。雄性鹿豚的体重可达 70 至 100 公斤，长有两对向后弯曲至前额的獠牙。雌性鹿豚体重则介于 45 至 80 公斤之间。

雌性鹿豚通常会和姐妹以及 2 岁以下的幼崽组成小型群体。雄性鹿豚多为独居，但会在交配季节前来与雌性群体共同生活。 它们全年均可繁殖，但繁殖季高峰处于六月至七月。在交配季节期间，雌性鹿豚处于发情期时，雄性鹿豚会追踪其尿液的气味，找出位置之后便会跟上去。假如两只雄性鹿豚锁定同一只雌性，双方便会开始展示自己的主导地位，以争取交配的权利。它们会发出叫声、相互冲撞，如果双方都不认输，则会以后腿站立，同时用前腿进行拳击般的攻击。通常体型较大、獠牙较长的一方会获胜。 雌性鹿豚怀孕 150 至 164 天后会产下 1 至 2 只小猪。小猪出生 3 至 10 天后便可以吃固体食物，6 至 8 个月大时会完全断奶；假如此期间母亲再度怀孕，则会提早断奶。 年轻雄性鹿豚会在 1 岁时离开母亲的群体并开始独居。雌性鹿豚可能会继续留在母亲的群体中，也可能离开去建立自己的原生群体。雌雄鹿豚都会在约 1 至 2 岁时达到性成熟。

- 鹿豚的胃有两个胃室，比起其他的猪，这样的构造和绵羊更为相似。
- 雄性鹿豚的獠牙会在一生中持续生长，最终甚至可能长入头颅内。
