Times and harvests are for full growing conditions. A plant grows at its overall quality times the growth bonus of its G genes, and gets its full harvest only when that rate is at least 100%; below that the harvest shrinks in proportion. A plant ripens once per season and stays ripe for 24 hours.
Genes
Every plant has six gene slots.
| Gene | Name | Effect | Crossbreeding weight |
|---|---|---|---|
| X | Empty | Does nothing | 1 |
| W | Water | Uses 10% more water per gene | 1 |
| G | Growth | Grows 25% faster per gene | 0.6 |
| Y | Yield | 25% more harvest per gene and one more clone per two genes | 0.6 |
| H | Hardiness | Better temperature quality, and outside planters better ground quality, per gene | 0.6 |
Crossbreeding
When a plant reaches its crossbreed stage, each of its six slots looks at the same slot of every living plant of the same kind in the same planter within 1.5 m. Every neighbour adds its gene's crossbreeding weight to that gene's total.
The gene with the highest total replaces the plant's own gene only if the total is above the weight of the plant's own gene, so it takes two G, Y or H neighbours to replace an X or W. On equal totals the gene that got there first in planting order wins.
Growing conditions
Light, water, ground and temperature each count as full once they reach the plant's optimal level (80% for every plant). A planter gives 60% ground quality and 100% when fertilized. In the ground the soil type sets it and each H gene adds 20%, up to 60%. Each H gene also adds 5% temperature quality.
