Overview
白尾海雕 (学名：Haliaeetus albicilla)，又称白尾雕、芝麻雕或欧亚海雕，是一种大型猛禽，广泛分布于北欧、东欧、亚洲部分地区及北太平洋沿岸。它们栖息于各类湿地与沿海环境，包括海崖、河口、河流、湖泊与沼泽，这些区域有开阔水域便于捕猎。 白尾海雕拥有巨大的淡黄色钩状喙，体羽呈棕色，尾羽为标志性的白色。幼鸟体色更深，无白色尾羽，约 5 岁时换为成鸟羽色。 白尾海雕翼展 1.7 至 2.5 米，体长 66 至 94 厘米。雌鸟体型比雄鸟大 10% 至 20%，雄鸟体重 3.1 至 5.4 千克，雌鸟更重，为 4 至 6.9 千克。

白尾海雕在成年初期就会选定终生伴侣，此后与伴侣共同生活。它们每年一起抚育雏鸟，其余时间不会与其他同类共处。 白尾海雕遵循严格的一雄一雌制。幼雕性成熟后会寻找配偶，通过翱翔展示与鸣叫吸引异性，以壮观的空中求偶飞行动作与对鸣巩固配偶关系。在交配季节 (南部种群为一月至七月，北部为四月至九月)，雌雄双鸟会在水边的树木或悬崖上，用树枝与柔软的植物搭建大型杯状巢，或返回去年的旧巢并加以修缮。 雌鸟每窝产 1 至 3 枚卵，并在接下来的 38 天内承担大部分孵化工作，雄鸟主要负责提供食物，不过二者也会轮流孵卵。幼鸟孵化后，双亲共同觅食育雏。幼鸟在 10 至 12 周后就羽翼丰满，但仍会依赖父母数周，以便学习捕猎和熟悉环境。 幼鸟长到 5 至 6 个月大时，便会远离出生领地，向各处扩散寻找栖息地，逐步掌握生存技能，同时完成换羽，长出标志性的白色尾羽等成鸟羽毛。它们在 4 至 6 岁时达到性成熟，此后会寻找配偶，建立属于自己的领地。
