Breeding produces live offspring - no egg management needed. Gestation takes approximately 8 hours at default rates.
After hatching or birth, the baby R-Megatherium matures over an extremely long period, one of the longest in the game, reaching adulthood in about 3 days and 20 hours at 1x maturation. The most labor-intensive part is the baby phase (0–10% maturation) when it can't use a Feeding Trough yet.
Offspring inherit parental stats and have a small chance to mutate, gaining +2 levels in a random stat. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.
Raising a baby R-Megatherium involves three maturation phases: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~556 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~37h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~46h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.
Imprinting during maturation provides permanent stat bonuses. At 100% imprint, the R-Megatherium gains 30% bonus damage and resistance when ridden by the imprinter. You'll be asked to cuddle, walk, or feed specific kibble at regular intervals during maturation.
Use the raising calculator to plan food requirements for raising R-Megatherium babies through all three growth stages. The Baby phase (0–10%) takes ~556 minutes and is the most hands-on, requiring direct feeding or a Maewing.
The multiplier feature helps plan large-scale R-Megatherium raises by totaling food across all babies. Consider food spoilage when choosing what to feed: Kibble lasts days, while Raw Meat spoils in minutes.
The R-Megatherium, a tamable, omnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended, is a common sight across multiple maps. Classified under the Variant group.
Starting at 740 Health, it's impressively tough. With 100% base Melee Damage, the R-Megatherium has decent hitting power. With 400 base Stamina, the R-Megatherium has respectable staying power. Weight capacity starts at 725, giving it massive inventory space.
You'll need to knock the R-Megatherium unconscious before taming it. Tranquilizers are the standard approach. For best results, use Superior Kibble - it gives the highest taming efficiency.
Once tamed, the R-Megatherium excels at logistics - load it up and move materials where they're needed. Breeding is via live birth rather than eggs, simplifying the process. Defeating one in the wild grants 4 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.67 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
