Baby: The hatched dinosaur, now a baby, needs constant attention and food placed directly in its inventory to survive, or a nearby Maewing to take care of its needs.

During the Baby phase (0-10%), you must hand-feed or use a Maewing to nurse. From Juvenile (10%+), dinos can eat from a Feeding Trough on their own. Use Preserving Salt in troughs to double spoil times.
More about breeding the Tapejara
Breeding the Tapejara produces fertilized eggs that require careful temperature control. Incubation temperature must stay between 29°C and 32°C - use Air Conditioners, Standing Torches, or Dimetrodons to maintain the range. At the correct temperature, the egg hatches in approximately 1 hour and 39 minutes.
After hatching or birth, the baby Tapejara matures over a lengthy period, reaching adulthood in about 2 days and 6 hours at 1x maturation. The most labor-intensive part is the baby phase (0–10% maturation) when it can't use a Feeding Trough yet.
Offspring inherit parental stats and have a small chance to mutate, gaining +2 levels in a random stat. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.
Maturation has three phases: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~327 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~22h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~27h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.
Don't skip imprinting - each successful imprint boosts the Tapejara's stats, and hitting 100% grants a 30% combat bonus when the imprinter rides it. Keep various kibble types on hand, as imprint requests are randomized between cuddles, walks, and kibble feeding.
Planning a mass raise? The Tapejara raising calculator breaks down food needs per phase so nothing goes to waste. The Baby phase (0–10%) takes ~327 minutes and is the most hands-on, requiring direct feeding or a Maewing.
Raising multiple Tapejara simultaneously? Set the dino count and the calculator scales food requirements automatically. Match your food choice to your play schedule - longer spoil timers mean less babysitting.
ARK: Survival Ascended features the Tapejara as a tamable, flying, carnivore creature that survivors will encounter in the wild. Classified under the Flyer group.
With 250 base Stamina, the Tapejara has moderate endurance. Its base Melee Damage sits at 100%, giving it solid damage output. The Tapejara has 325 base Health - decently sturdy. A base Weight of 280 means good carrying capacity.
To tame the Tapejara, you need to knock it unconscious using torpor weapons, then feed it while it's down. Feed it Superior Kibble for the fastest tame and highest effectiveness bonus.
After taming, the Tapejara is a versatile flyer useful for scouting, traversal, and light transport. Breeding produces fertilized eggs that hatch within a 29°C–32°C temperature window. Defeating one in the wild grants 3 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.67 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
