How it plays

Playbook

Burns everything in a zone - and if any of them were already on fire, they detonate. Surcharge is the Pyro school's combo detonator: cast it after Fireball, Wisp, or Firebeam have applied Burning and you turn the DoT stacks into instant burst damage across the entire group.

Strategy

Always pair with a Burning setup spell. Fireball into Surcharge is the classic, but Wisp spreading Burning to a group before you Surcharge is often more efficient. The wider your Burning coverage when Surcharge lands, the more simultaneous detonations you get.

Strengths

Detonates Burning enemies for immediate burst damage
Wide zone means it catches groups rather than single targets
Multiplies the value of every other Pyro spell significantly

Weaknesses

Does ordinary burn damage against enemies not already on fire
Requires setup - useless as an opener
