Drop rate is the percentage shown by the game's loot table. Rare drop rates change with collection history.
Group fights: each extra player adds 80% boss HP and a chance at another loot pile, so a duo gets 1 pile plus a 2nd one 80% of the time. Each pile is a full roll of this loot table and goes to one player, picked at random weighted by damage dealt. The same player can win every pile, so getting no loot from a group kill is normal. Loot is not shared with your party, and others can't pick up the untradeable items in a pile they didn't win. Since the October 9 update, the boss health bar shows your Loot Share (your share of total damage, which is your chance to win each pile) and the fight's Loot Rolls (for example 1.8 = 1 pile plus an 80% chance at a 2nd).
