Instead of laying eggs, the R-Dire Bear carries its young through a gestation period. Gestation takes approximately 4 hours at default rates.
The baby R-Dire Bear takes approximately 1 day and 22 hours to fully mature at default rates - requiring significant patience. During the baby phase (0–10%), hand-feed it directly. From 10% onward (juvenile), it can eat from a Feeding Trough.
Mutations can add +2 levels to any stat and change colors. Stacking mutations across generations is the key to min-maxed breeding lines. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.
The R-Dire Bear's growth progresses through three stages: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~278 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~19h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~23h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.
Imprinting during maturation provides permanent stat bonuses. At 100% imprint, the R-Dire Bear gains 30% bonus damage and resistance when ridden by the imprinter. Keep various kibble types on hand, as imprint requests are randomized between cuddles, walks, and kibble feeding.

Found throughout the ARKs, the R-Dire Bear is a tamable, omnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended. It belongs to the Variant category.
Health-wise, the R-Dire Bear sits at 400 base, making it moderately tough. With 100% base Melee Damage, the R-Dire Bear has solid damage output. Its base Stamina of 500 gives it solid stamina reserves. Weight capacity starts at 650, giving it excellent carrying capacity.
Taming the R-Dire Bear requires rendering it unconscious first - use Tranq Arrows, Darts, or Shocking Tranq Darts to apply torpor. Feed it Giant Bee Honey for the fastest tame and highest effectiveness bonus.
After taming, the R-Dire Bear has the carrying capacity to serve as a reliable transport mount for heavy loads. Breeding is via live birth rather than eggs, simplifying the process. A wild R-Dire Bear is worth 4 base experience when killed. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.66 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
