The Pegomastax reproduces by laying fertilized eggs after mating. Incubation temperature must stay between 28°C and 32°C - use Air Conditioners, Standing Torches, or Dimetrodons to maintain the range. At the correct temperature, the egg hatches in approximately 1 hour and 8 minutes.
The baby Pegomastax takes approximately 1 day and 6 hours to fully mature at default rates - over a lengthy period. During the baby phase (0–10%), hand-feed it directly. From 10% onward (juvenile), it can eat from a Feeding Trough.
Mutations can add +2 levels to any stat and change colors. Stacking mutations across generations is the key to min-maxed breeding lines. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.
The Pegomastax's growth progresses through three stages: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~185 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~12h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~15h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.
Imprinting during maturation provides permanent stat bonuses. At 100% imprint, the Pegomastax gains 30% bonus damage and resistance when ridden by the imprinter. Keep various kibble types on hand, as imprint requests are randomized between cuddles, walks, and kibble feeding.

Found throughout the ARKs, the Pegomastax is a tamable, herbivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended.
Its base Stamina of 100 gives it low stamina reserves. With 100% base Melee Damage, the Pegomastax has solid damage output. With 120 base Health, the Pegomastax is glass-cannon fragile. A base Weight of 55 means minimal inventory space.
Taming the Pegomastax doesn't require unconsciousness. Instead, sneak up to it and hand-feed its preferred food. Its preferred food is Simple Kibble.
After taming, the Pegomastax fills a general-purpose role, adaptable to whatever your tribe currently needs. It reproduces by laying eggs, which must be incubated between 28°C and 32°C. A wild Pegomastax is worth 0.5 base experience when killed. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.28 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
