The Diplocaulus reproduces by laying fertilized eggs after mating. Incubation temperature must stay between -75°C and 75°C - use Air Conditioners, Standing Torches, or Dimetrodons to maintain the range. At the correct temperature, the egg hatches in approximately 4 hours and 59 minutes.
Full maturation from baby to adult takes ~1 day and 13 hours (1x rate), progressing slowly. During the baby phase (0–10%), hand-feed it directly. From 10% onward (juvenile), it can eat from a Feeding Trough.
Offspring inherit parental stats and have a small chance to mutate, gaining +2 levels in a random stat. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.
The Diplocaulus's growth progresses through three stages: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~222 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~15h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~19h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.
Imprinting during maturation provides permanent stat bonuses. At 100% imprint, the Diplocaulus gains 30% bonus damage and resistance when ridden by the imprinter. Keep various kibble types on hand, as imprint requests are randomized between cuddles, walks, and kibble feeding.

Found throughout the ARKs, the Diplocaulus is a tamable, carnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended.
Its base Stamina of 165 gives it average stamina. Dealing 100% base Melee Damage, the Diplocaulus brings respectable melee power to the table. At 250 base HP, the Diplocaulus is not particularly tanky. It carries 150 base Weight - modest carrying capacity.
You'll need to knock the Diplocaulus unconscious before taming it. Tranquilizers are the standard approach. Feed it Simple Kibble for the fastest tame and highest effectiveness bonus.
Once tamed, the Diplocaulus is valued for its harvesting efficiency, collecting key resources faster than most tools. It reproduces by laying eggs, which must be incubated between -75°C and 75°C. Killing a wild Diplocaulus yields 2 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.4 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
