Rune Slots and Levels
Runes unlock at player level 40. The 6 rune slots open at levels 40, 45, 50, 55, 60 and 65.
Rune levels
A rune starts at rune level 1 and goes up to level 6. An attribute is worth its base value plus its per-level value for every rune level above 1.

Rune XP: every time the player gains XP, from an enemy kill that gives XP or from an offline reward, each equipped rune below level 6 gains 1 rune XP, whatever the amount of player XP. Level 1 to 6 takes 10,066 of them. Runes cannot be fed or merged to gain levels.
Trading
Set Runes and Legendary runes, the ones named (Grand), can be traded on the Aldenreach Auction until they are equipped. Rare and Uncommon runes cannot be traded.
Before a tradable rune is equipped, a prompt asks: "Equipping this rune makes it untradable forever. Equip anyway?"
