The VR Velonasaur reproduces by laying fertilized eggs after mating. Incubation temperature must stay between 28°C and 32°C - use Air Conditioners, Standing Torches, or Dimetrodons to maintain the range. At the correct temperature, the egg hatches in approximately 1 hour and 8 minutes.
Full maturation from baby to adult takes ~1 day and 22 hours (1x rate), progressing over a lengthy period. During the baby phase (0–10%), hand-feed it directly. From 10% onward (juvenile), it can eat from a Feeding Trough.
Offspring inherit parental stats and have a small chance to mutate, gaining +2 levels in a random stat. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.
The VR Velonasaur's growth progresses through three stages: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~278 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~19h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~23h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.
Imprint bonuses are significant: a fully imprinted VR Velonasaur gains 30% extra damage and damage resistance with its imprinter mounted. Imprint requests include cuddling, walks, and specific kibble - check the wiki for which kibble to stockpile.
The raising calculator above shows exactly how much food you need for each maturation phase of the VR Velonasaur. Budget ~278 minutes for the Baby phase - this is when hand-feeding or Maewing nursing is mandatory.
Raising multiple VR Velonasaur simultaneously? Set the dino count and the calculator scales food requirements automatically. Different food types have different spoil timers - factor that into which food you stockpile.
ARK: Survival Ascended features the VR Velonasaur as a tamable, carnivore creature that survivors will encounter in the wild. It falls within the Variant classification.
Its base Melee Damage sits at 100%, giving it respectable melee power. At 160 base HP, the VR Velonasaur is not particularly tanky. Its base Stamina of 1000 gives it massive stamina reserves. Weight capacity starts at 100, giving it modest carrying capacity.
To tame the VR Velonasaur, you need to knock it unconscious using torpor weapons, then feed it while it's down. Regular Kibble is the most effective food for taming, offering the highest affinity per feeding.
As a tame, the VR Velonasaur fills a general-purpose role, adaptable to whatever your tribe currently needs. Breeding produces fertilized eggs that hatch within a 28°C–32°C temperature window. A wild VR Velonasaur is worth 1 base experience when killed. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.32 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
