Instead of laying eggs, the Hyaenodon carries its young through a gestation period. Gestation takes approximately 4 hours at default rates.
The baby Hyaenodon takes approximately 1 day and 22 hours to fully mature at default rates - over a lengthy period. During the baby phase (0–10%), hand-feed it directly. From 10% onward (juvenile), it can eat from a Feeding Trough.
Mutations can add +2 levels to any stat and change colors. Stacking mutations across generations is the key to min-maxed breeding lines. Use the breeding calculator to plan food requirements, incubation timers, and maturation phases.
The Hyaenodon's growth progresses through three stages: Baby (0–10%) lasts ~278 min and requires constant hand-feeding. Juvenile (10–50%) spans ~19h - it can eat from a Trough now. Adolescent (50–100%) takes ~23h - continues eating from troughs, nearly fully grown.
Imprinting during maturation provides permanent stat bonuses. At 100% imprint, the Hyaenodon gains 30% bonus damage and resistance when ridden by the imprinter. Keep various kibble types on hand, as imprint requests are randomized between cuddles, walks, and kibble feeding.
Planning a mass raise? The Hyaenodon raising calculator breaks down food needs per phase so nothing goes to waste. Expect ~278 minutes of active care during the Baby phase before it graduates to trough-feeding as a Juvenile.
Adjust the dino count to calculate food for multiple Hyaenodon babies at once - essential for batch breeding operations. Match your food choice to your play schedule - longer spoil timers mean less babysitting.
Found throughout the ARKs, the Hyaenodon is a tamable, carnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended.
Its base Stamina of 260 gives it average stamina. Dealing 100% base Melee Damage, the Hyaenodon brings decent hitting power to the table. The Hyaenodon has 175 base Health - on the squishy side. It carries 170 base Weight - modest carrying capacity.
Taming the Hyaenodon doesn't require unconsciousness. Instead, sneak up to it and hand-feed its preferred food. Its preferred food is Kibble (Carno Egg).
After taming, the Hyaenodon is valued for its harvesting efficiency, collecting key resources faster than most tools. Breeding is via live birth rather than eggs, simplifying the process. Defeating one in the wild grants 18 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.04 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
