Spino taming calculatorKnockout

Taming the Spino requires applying enough torpor to knock it out. Use tranquilizer projectiles, then place food in its inventory. Once unconscious, Torpor drains at 2.13/s, so keep Narcotics or Bio Toxin ready.

More about taming the Spino

The results below show total taming time, effectiveness, and bonus levels for the Spino at your selected level and food. Higher-quality foods yield more bonus levels.

Use the knockout chart to see exactly how many Tranq Arrows, Darts, or other torpor weapons it takes to down the Spino. Space your shots to let torpor accumulate - rapid firing risks killing it before knockout.

To simplify the knockout, immobilize the Spino first with Chain Bola or Bear Trap. Alternatively, use a Tusoteuthis to airlift it into a pre-built trap.

Use the narcotic calculator to determine exactly how many Narcotics, Bio Toxin, or Narcoberries you need for the Spino. Narcotics provide 40 Torpor each and are the standard choice. Bio Toxin offers 80 Torpor but is harder to farm. Narcoberries at 7.5 each are a last resort. At 2.13 Torpor drain per second, apply narcotics proactively - a wakeup mid-tame wastes everything.

Track the taming process with the timers below - they monitor both Torpor and starvation progress. The torpor timer alerts you when narcotics are needed. The starve timer tracks Food depletion for starve-taming, where you let the food bar drop before placing all food at once.

The Spino, a tamable, carnivore creature in ARK: Survival Ascended, is a notable presence across multiple maps. It falls within the DMG classification.

At 805 base HP, the Spino is solidly tanky. With 100% base Melee Damage, the Spino has decent hitting power. Its base Stamina of 350 gives it solid stamina reserves. It carries 350 base Weight - good carrying capacity.

You'll need to knock the Spino unconscious before taming it. Tranquilizers are the standard approach. Exceptional Kibble is the most effective food for taming, offering the highest affinity per feeding.

After taming, the Spino is valued for its harvesting efficiency, collecting key resources faster than most tools. It reproduces by laying eggs, which must be incubated between 30°C and 32°C. Killing a wild Spino yields 60 base XP. It can be cloned at a Cloning Chamber for 0.67 Element plus 0.01 Element per level.
