You made it back from the island alive. Seeing the state you're in, Vadim tells you to get some rest in the barn. Whatever stories you have can wait until morning.

Taking the quest

VadimAlright then...hmm... No use talking business when you can barely stand.
YouI can manage.
VadimYou look terrible. Get some sleep in the barn, and we'll talk in the morning.
YouAll right.

During the quest

VadimWell, don't just dawdle. Go on, get some rest. The gate's shut till dawn anyway.
EvaloAh, you're the one working under Vadim.
YouThat's right.
EvaloHaven't seen you around lately. ... Don't tell me you've been off checking that strange island.
YouIn fact I have.
EvaloHmph. Can't tell if you're brave or just damn reckless...
YouI found this flare on the island.
EvaloAre you saying you have the flare? Please, hand over the flare to me. It's really important to me. And keep this a secret from Vadim, if you don't mind.
YouAlright. I won't tell him.
EvaloYou have my thanks.
OwenbinThe guard captain...you know him? Damn fool. Acts like he's above the rest of us, when we're all just settlers who drifted here to Auroria. Always going on about his connections...the Settlers' Council and all that. Anyway, best not wander around at night unless you want trouble with the likes of him.
VadimFound anything out there?
YouI found this.
VadimWhat, a rock...? Looks about worthless, if you ask me.
YouIt revealed a piece of my past.
VadimI sure don't sense a mystical aura...or what-have-you. Come now, you must surely have something for me!
YouNo treasures of real value, I'm afraid.
VadimSome little treasure found on your grand little adventure. Quite the breakthrough, truly... Well, it's a shame you can't trade memories for gold.
YouI'm not sure, but...I need to find someone.
VadimWell then...you set on leaving? Your life, your call. Though...you've still got a debt to pay first.
YouWhat must be done?
VadimFollow the coast, and you'll come across a pirate hideout called the Cliffs of Madness. They recently captured someone with close ties to the Eznan Royals... I'd say head on over and pay 'em a visit. Ah, and all the better if you somehow manage to bring back that noble in one piece. Not quite the payout I deserve, but who knows? Maybe they'll be willing to vouch for your status in return.
YouUnderstood.
VadimBut no rush. See to your business first. Even pirates know better than to kill off a wealthy noble without due cause. Let me see your map. I'll mark a nearby village...might find a lead there.
YouAlright.
VadimAnd take this weapon. Decent enough, should see you to it. ... Stay alive, you hear? We stowaways know all too well how cruel this land can be.
